If you’re reading this, chances are you’re struggling with your content. Perhaps not getting the results from it that you’d hoped. I always say it takes just as long to create a piece of content, whether it’s good of bad… So it might as well be good, right?!
In this blog post I’m going to cover off some of the most common mistakes I see working with businesses of all shapes and sizes, when it comes to content. It can be blogs, social media content, podcasts or YouTube videos… The 3 common mistakes I see when it comes to content strategy are all the same.
No call to action
So many business owners put content out without any actual direction for where the viewer, reader or lister should go next. You’ve just given them some great value… Perhaps even solved a problem for them and then… boom, you let them walk away.
Always make a clear call to action. Don’t imply it, make it crystal clear. i.e “if you want to achieve X result, then click here to sign up for x”.
Lack of strategy
When you don’t have a content strategy, you are literally walking around aimlessly. More money or more sales, does not equal a strategy. You need to know what you want to achieve long term and start to dial it back. And ask yourself how can your content support you in achieving those goals.
If you want to devise a content strategy for your business, then be sure to check out my membership The Content Academy, which walks you step by step how to do this. (that’s a call to action!)
No value given
The way people consume content these days is different. People want value, results, tutorials, support… If you’re content isn’t talking directly to them, then they will scroll on by. So ask yourself “is your content giving enough value”?
You can give tips, demonstrations, testimonials… micro wins for them in their day to day life.
Content isn’t just stuff that you have to tick off your to do list. It can support your business growth when done correctly. Join me inside The Content Academy to learn more! (Oh, I did it again!)
