• 3 reasons why your customers are a content goldmine

Yep, you heard me… Your customers are a content marketing goldmine! Want to know why? Great, settle down and let me tell you the 3 reasons why some of your best blog and social media content will come from your customers.

    1. Testimonials

So this one is a given… Your customers can provide you with priceless testimonials for your product or service. But why is this so powerful? Because of a little something called social reassurance.

If you think of the journey someone takes to buy your product or service… They’re aware of it, they research & compare the market, before deciding to buy. Now when people are at that decision making stage, nothing works harder for you than testimonials. It reassures people that others have bought from you and they thoroughly enjoyed your product or service, so logic has it ‘they will too’.

Not only that but there’s also something called FOMO – the fear of missing out. When you share previous customers glowing testimonials is stirs up a little FOMO in people… Not in a bad way, but well they want to be rewarded for their great buying decision too.

You see those car dealerships posting collection photos of the car, with the big bow and the salesperson handing the key over. The perfect formula of social reassurance and FOMO in harmony… I dare you to visit your local dealerships Facebook page and look at the engagement on those particular posts… People tagging their friends, sharing it to show others. It’s powerful, powerful emotion provoking stuff.

    2. Objections

3 reasons why your customers are a content goldmine

Every business owners soul dies a little when a potential customer brings up an objection AKA a reason why they aren’t buying today. But turn that frown upside down because that person has just educated you on something you maybe didn’t even realise was a reason for them not to buy. And what do we do with those? We mope for 90 seconds, but then we dust ourselves down and start to list all the reasons why that objection isn’t really, well valid.

Let’s say they weren’t keen on getting a reflexology treatment done, because they were embarrassed about getting their feet out, or they’re afraid it might be ticklish (I know I don’t like getting my feet out, so that’s one for me!)

Well you can now tailor content geared to educate people on the different types of reflexology, using hands, ears even and how effective those other types are. So now your content is working away to dismiss those ‘feet fearing’ objections before someone else even raises them.

When you think back to the buying process, this content is great for those the research stage of the process.

    3. Problems

Your customers problem have to be the absolute biggest goldmine of all. It’s a true insight into how your product or service filters into other areas of their lives. Areas you perhaps didn’t think of. People are maybe kept awake at night worrying about their tax return (for example)

They’ll tell you the emotions that they feel when they have the problem, which is so powerful to include in your content. So for a tax return issue it might be stress, worry, confusion, lost… These words are pure content gold. Because you can now use them to attract more of your ideal customer.

A social media caption that starts ‘Are you being kept awake at night worrying about your tax return’ relates to people and makes them scream ‘hell yeah I am!’ More than if you just said ‘Needing your tax return done?’

So when customers are ‘telling all’ prick up those ears and absorbs every adjective.

Which one are you going to try?

  • Time Saving Content Tips

We all want to be doing ‘ALL’ the social platforms, ‘ALL’ the content types (Podcast, Blogs, Videos) but we only have one pair of hands and 24 hrs in a day… How is it possible? Well don’t worry, because with my time saving content tips, you can do more than you think.

We all know that content is our biggest friend… That little mini sales ambassador, giving its all whilst we crack on with the accounts (we thank you for it little content guy!)

But we don’t have to struggle with our content creation, it can be simple, streamlined and a complete doddle, once we get to know it.

So in order to help you ‘tame the beast’ here’s my top 3 tips to save you time with your content creation:

    Repurpose your video

    Time Saving Content Tips

So many people use ‘only’ YouTube, or ‘only’ IGTV… Use them both! Making a video is time consuming, so record it once, edit it once and then right before you upload it to IGTV, rotate it to make it vertical. Then when people watch, they can rotate their phone and watch your YouTube video in full landscape glory right there on IGTV.

Another benefit of this… Not only are you reaching those who only follow you on IG, but the platform will love you back for using more of their features AND if you have under 10K followers, IG will still let you ‘Swipe up’ on stories to IGTV and they will also let you post the initial 60 secs in your feed!

Better yet, why not lift the audio from the video and create a podcast from it?! (Obviously this wouldn’t work for tutorials and you’d need to bear this in mind when you record it).

So now that’s 1 video being shown on YouTube, IGTV, Stories and your feed (cross post to your FB Page and you get extra points) and potentially a podcast too!

    Narrow your focus

    Time Saving Content Tips

If you’re creating completely unique content for each platform… Listen up!

Why don’t you give your brain a rest and instead of trying to think of 5 or 6 different content topics each week, set yourself just 1 topic (hear me out).

So this blog post is ‘time saving tips’ where I share 3. That’s 3 different social media posts (1 for each tip) BUT I also have a newsletter to go out, so I could write all about my social media planning system that I use (more about that here).

Then on stories, I can show people how to repurpose their YouTube video for IGTV (and even add a cute graphic that invites people to rotate the video).

On LIVE I can show people how I plan my content for the month ahead.

So rather than hop all over the place, talking about blogging on stories one day, video on my blog the next, it’s way more effective, easier on my brain and less overwhelming to create.

    Get ahead

You probably know my motto by now is to get 30 days ahead in your content. This is a HUGE stress reliever and time saver!

Not only do you build yourself a comfortable cushion, should you get sick, or have a crazy busy week, but by doing it all in one sitting, you’re already in the zone, focussed and you’ll find it rolls off your tongue so much easier than if you ‘post it on the fly’.

So there you have it, my 3 time saving content tips!

Let me know in the comments which ones you find most useful.

  • Why content marketing is important for small businesses

Let me first start by saying ‘in this day and age, content marketing is an absolute must’, especially for small businesses. But don’t run screaming for the hills just yet, because it doesn’t have to be as difficult as you may make out.

To understand what content marketing is, let’s take a look at the definition “a type of marketing that involves the creation and sharing of online material (such as videos, blogs, and social media posts) that does not explicitly promote a brand but is intended to stimulate interest in its products or services.”

You see content marketing is a great and affordable tool in your toolbox. It can drive you web traffic,  turn followers into leads & sales, get you great engagement, have a competitive advantage over your competitors and get your business the kind of free visibility you just couldn’t otherwise get. I like to think of it as a ‘swiss army knife’… Out there warming up your audience for you, whilst you get on with those that are ready to buy.

Myth buster 1: You really can plan and create content for the month ahead in just 1 day… Yep that’s 8 hrs! Don’t believe me? Check out my signature course ‘’Content Planning for Business” where I teach you how to get 30 ahead and stay there is just 1 day per month.

Why is it so important for a small business

Why content marketing is important for small businesses | Content Clarity | Let me first start by saying ‘in this day and age, content marketing is an absolute must’, especially for small businesses. But don’t run screaming for the hills just yet, because it doesn’t have to be as difficult as you may make out.

Being a small business myself, I know the constant juggle of being the person who answers the phones, makes the tea, makes all the decisions and does all the work… It’s a plate spinning battle that would get any small business owner a place in the circus!

Not only that though, we need to be savvy about where we spend out advertising budget (if we have one at all!) Which is why content marketing is your friend… Imagine for a moment we’re in the 80’s (hello Rick Astley!) and you have to tell 100 new people about your product or service. What free audience building work would you do? Cold call 100 people? Chap the doors of 100 people? Post flyers through doors of 100 people? (ok so you’d have to pay for the flyers… But you get my point). These days you can create 1 piece of content (be it a blog post, video, social post, podcast) and that 1 time ‘conversation’ can be had with a 100 people just in the click of a button… We are so lucky these days!

Now that ‘conversation’ can be about a multitude of things, from new products, to overcoming objections and even testimonials. But once it’s out there, it’s working on repeat for you without having to do anything more.

Just imagine a perfectly SEO’d blog post shared on social getting instant eyes on it, whilst over the coming weeks it’s ranking for search terms on Google, that will drive you new leads… It’s out there doing the door chapping for you. And guess what… everyone is at home (YAY!)

Or maybe you’ve built up a loyal following on social media and you share a social post about the changes your product or service makes to people… It resonates with your audience and they are feeling pretty proud as punch that they made such a wise decision in buying and they want all their friends to know and they share your post… Getting fresh new eyes on your business. Post after post, week after week.

You see done right, content marketing is like having an army of sales people at your finger tips, making you hit those big business goals, that you maybe thought you couldn’t do alone, but you can!

  • How Does Instagram ‘No Likes’ Affect My Business

Do you want to know exactly how Instagram’s ‘no likes’ display will affect your business? Well you’re in the right place…

As the news of Instagram rolling out the ‘no like’ display on feed images in test countries (such as Australia, Ireland and Canada) hit. Instagram users in other countries have certainly pricked their ears up. Wondering if it’s them next… But how exactly does this effect you?

What does Instagram ‘no likes’ look like?

Next to the little heart symbol beneath feed posts, there was a count of how many ‘likes’ each photo has. If your account is selected during the in country tests, then that like counter will vanish, so you will no longer be able to see the count of ‘likes’ against the images that appear in your newsfeed.

Instead images will just say ‘Liked by @contentclarity and others’ You can still tap ‘others’ to see the list of who else has liked, but this will no longer be counted for you.

You will ALWAYS be able to see the ‘likes’ for your own images.

    Can I still ‘like’ images?

In one word, yes! If you are selected for testing, you will still be able to double tap or single tap the heart as normal.

How does this affect my business?

How does instagram no likes affect my business

Now is as good a time as any to roll out the soap box about vanity metric… So listen up (But don’t worry, it’s all good!)

The importance placed against ‘likes’ was always more psychological than it actually was useful to your account. Instagram uses an algorithm to depict the virility of a post and this is not based on ‘likes’ alone.

Personally I think this is a great move. Not only for mental health of personal users, but it also snaps business users our of the ‘likes’ trance that all of us have been guilty of (myself included!)

Over the years ‘likes’ quickly became no more than just a ‘vanity metric’. For years people have obsessed over ‘likes’ as well as follower count, more so than the more telling engagement rate and community figures.

This led to an entire marketplace with the ability to buy ‘likes’, subscribe to automated systems to batch like certain images We had become obsessed! Even when the algorithm was aligned time and time again to place importance on other metrics, people didn’t listen.

Instagram shut down the companies that were selling these services and subscriptions, but users found more ways to get the ‘likes’. They turned to Facebook/What’s App Groups to set up engagement pods and exchange ‘likes’ for ‘likes’.

Do you know what… Instagram aren’t daft… It’s owned by Facebook (as is What’s App) and they can see people coming in ‘liking’ and going back to Facebook or What’s App 100 times in a row. The algorithm recognises unnatural actions and behavior. So it’s actually damaging to your account to be hunting this hard for ‘likes’.

    What really matters?

How does instagram no likes affect my business

It always was (and continues to be) all about NATURAL ENGAGEMENT! Genuine interaction on your posts. Likes and comments from real people with real intentions.

Take a look beyond the ‘likes’. If you haven’t already done so, switch to a business account. This will give you access to more statistics than you could possibly need.
At the bottom of each of you images you can delve into more useful statistics (far more useful than likes!)

    Here you can see:

Reach – How many unique accounts saw the post

Profile Visits – How many people tapped through to your profile so find out more about you… This is great and tells you your post captivated someone.

Website Clicks – Another great stat… People have not just come to your profile, but also tapped the link in your bio. Excellent! Maybe you wanted eyes on a blog post, or a newsletter sign up. If so, keep an eye on that.

Scroll even further and you’ll see discovery:

Follows – How maybe people followed your account to see more of you posts… Excellent, you’re growing you following!

Impressions – The number of times your image was seen (some people may have seen it more than once. If they follow you for example it may have appeared organically, and it may have again appeared as suggested under a hashtag they follow)

From home – Time is appeared in the feed
From hashtags – Times it has appeared through hashtags
From location – Times it appeared through location
From other – Times it appeared in other locations

Try comparing some of you feed posts. See which ones drove more web traffic and which drove more follows. Those are the ones to almost certainly learn from. Take a look at the likes against them too.

These are the statistics you really need to pay attention to… this shows the action people took. This is where you can start to see the types of posts that turn people into action takers to sign up to newsletters, read blog posts or watch YouTube videos, become leads and even buy from you… and THAT’S worth way more to you than just likes alone.

  • 5 Places to Find FREE Images

You don’t have to be taking images for every social media post. I’ll show you 5 places to find FREE stock images you can use in your content on social media and your blog (in fact I’m using stock image in this post just to prove that stock image aren’t a dead giveaway) so that you can take the pressure off of coming up with it all yourself.

People often think they can ‘right click, save as’ on any image on the internet and that is a common mistake. Even if you know it’s a stock image, you must always go to the source and download it properly, to avoid getting caught up in any copyright battles. But don’t fret, because I’m going to share 5 places where you can find FREE stock images that won’t land you in any bother.

    Unsplash

This one is my absolute favourite. The shots on Unsplash are so creative and really don’t look like stock shots at all! If you’re looking for industry specific shots, you might not find them here, but for more general shots, you’re well served here. Flatlays on here are AMAZING!

5 Places To Find Free Images Online

    Pexels

Very similar style of imagery to Unsplash. Pexels has really beautiful and creative shots taken by some very skilled photographers worldwide, that will work well on both social media and even on your web pages.

    Pixabay

Another favourite of mine, Pixabay also has illustrations that are free to use. Illustrations can sometime be a great addition to seasonal content and social media posts.

    StockSnap

StockSnap is great for generalized photography, such as flowers, sky etc. Not as cinematic as the others, but still great stock photography for blog posts or even promotional material.

5 Places To Find Free Images Online

    StockVault

StockVault is ShutterStocks free sister site, so they have a range of both images and illustrations to use for free. They do show ‘premium images’ in the results which you will need to pay for, but there is still a great number of images to choose from that are free to use.

So, there you go… 5 places to find great & FREE stock images to use in your blog or social media posts.
