• How to create Sustainable content

In a world where there’s a new social media platform every 2 minutes (hello Clubhouse!) how on earth can you keep up?! Well be creating a sustainable content plan. You’ll not only feel a lot more calm & clear about what you post and when. But you’ll also be maximising what you do post… So you’re not always having to recreate the wheel every time you want to create a piece of content.

How do you create a sustainable content plan?.. Let me tell you!

    Content pillars

First up you’ll want to create common content pillars that are a strong running theme throughout all of your content. i.e are you a business coach who thinks 10k months are overly hyped? Do you really support menopausal women in business? Well then 10K months  or menopause, is content to pop up pretty frequently in your content as a topic.

I recommend thinking about 4-6 of these that you can stick to you wall and always refer to when you’re planning your next content idea. It’s a sure fired way to becoming an intentional content planner.

    Content repurposing

This has to be the biggest kept secret in the marketing world (probably because it makes creating content an absolute doddle!) Once you’ve been posting content for a good 6-12 months, you can see what actually performed well for you and then repurpose that to other platforms & places, or comes at that topic from a different angle.

You can learn all about repurposing and more inside my business owners membership The Content Academy.

    Work behind the scenes

Not all content has to be public AKA social media. Content serves those who haven’t found you yet, right through to those who’ve known you for months and just bought from you. It’s important that you remember that and cater what and where you post to those different stages.

Take Instagram for example… Reels are great from new reach and discovery… Stories, not so much (mostly just your followers), so create Reels with newbies in mind and Stories with warming and sales in mind.

Or take selling completely behind the scenes, by only every pushing social traffic to freebies, masterclasses, challenges and do your selling either live, or using automated email sales sequences to do the hard work for you (great for introverts like me!)

So there you have it. A way to create sustainable content that is very much working smarter, not harder!

  • 3 Things that every piece of content should answer

When it comes to content creation, there’s nothing worse than sitting with a blank page and mind, wondering what on earth you’re going to write, record or shoot. It takes just as long to create a bad piece of content than it does a good piece, so you might as well create a good piece (right?!) That’s where the 3 golden rules of content creation comes in. This will make your ‘rabbit in the headlights’ vibe disappear and have you in full flow… Whether it’s writing social media captions, making an Instagram carousel, Podcast, YouTube video or blog. Whatever the content type, there’s 3 things that every piece of content should answer.

    Problem aware

Whoever, reads, listens or watches needs to be pulled in. They need to quickly know that you ‘get them’ and that you could potentially help them. This not only exerts your place as an expert to them, but captivates their attention… Especially if they’re scrolling through social media.

So think… What is something your audience struggle with that your business can solve? i.e Are you bamboozled by Instagram Reels?! Do you even know what TikTok is?! You know you should be doing It for your business, but your mind is literally blown.

This tells my audience that I know exactly what they’re thinking, feeling and want to solve. All of a sudden they’re like ‘heck that’s me! You’ve read my mind… Tell me more!’

    Solution aware

The next section of your content should always be solution aware based. So you’ve already got your ideal audiences attention… Now what?! Well now you introduce them to the idea of what it’s like to not struggle with that issue. Think of it like being on the other side of the fence. One side is the problem side and the other is the solution side. Your audience are stuck on the problem side, but are peering over and thinking ‘the grass definitely is greener on that side!’

So, you need to tell them what life is like on that side i.e ‘With Instagram Reels me and my clients are getting over 200 followers a week and reach of over 10 times that of Stories. Not only that but those followers are engaged and ready to buy.

So, now they recognise and agree with the problem, they want the solution and so here’s where part 3 comes in.

    Solve offer

Now it’s time to introduce how your offer will help them get from problem to solution. Regardless of what the offer is… It’s the bridge that’s going to take them to the other side. Make it attainable. i.e With my Reels Bootcamp, you will learn all the tech, transitions and how to make Reels that grab the attention of your audience and grow your account faster than any other Instagram content type.’

So next time you’re staring at a blank page wondering what to write, record or shoot… Remember to make sure you follow these 3 simple steps to get your message across in your content.

  • 5 ways to build trust with your ideal client

So, you’ve heard all about building the know, like & trust factor on social media and how important this is to brand building and turning followers into buyers online… But how on earth do you actually building trust with your ideal client through your content? Let me tell you 5 ways you can start to pepper this into your content and watch the results it has on your online engagement and reach.

    Understand their problems

Knowing your ideal customer well will stand you in good stead, but it’s something that many businesses just don’t take the time to do, because they think it’ll be hard or expensive. But you can find out a lot about your customer from a simple survey or Insta poll.

Make sure that you really understand how your offers can solve their problems (and I mean really!) Don’t just take that initial surface level problem, but scratch the surface and deep dive into what’s really behind it, the emotion, the stress, all the mini issues that initial problems casts off.

Being able to call upon those in your content makes what you create really hit the spot and resonate with them.

    Show up consistently

People need to see you show up regularly and consistently enough. Not everyone is ready to buy when they first discover you, so if you don’t hang around long enough in their social media feed, you’ll lose out on that sale and it’ll go to a competitor. So be consistent in your content. There’s so many different ways you can create content these days, which makes showing up easier than ever before!

If you’re really struggling with creating consistent content, check out something called content repurposing.

    Be Yourself

Don’t be afraid to show up for what your stand for. If you’re too vanilla, then you’re missing out on those deep connections with your audience. I’m not saying to go out and be spiky on purpose, but if you really love cats and can’t stand dogs… You need to be ok with losing the dog crowd (but the cat crowd will relate and love you deeper than ever before!)

    Be relatable

Stories, example and non jargon terminology will always work well online. Talk about your experiences, past examples of work, personal life (where relevant) and you’ll find that people will be reaching out to you (that sounds amazing right!! All from just being yourself… How easy is that!)

    Show testimonials

Social proof is a huge powerful way to build trust with your ideal client. Past examples of work, reviews, written or video are pure gold. So if you’re not already asking for reviews as part of your regular contact plan, be sure to!

These 5 things will make it easier for people to connect with you on a whole new level online and spark with you. You’ll notice as a result your engagement and conversation will sky rocket. So it’s really worth persevering with.

  • 3 of the most common content mistakes and how to avoid them

If you’re reading this, chances are you’re struggling with your content. Perhaps not getting the results from it that you’d hoped. I always say it takes just as long to create a piece of content, whether it’s good of bad… So it might as well be good, right?!

In this blog post I’m going to cover off some of the most common mistakes I see working with businesses of all shapes and sizes, when it comes to content. It can be blogs, social media content, podcasts or YouTube videos… The 3 common mistakes I see when it comes to content strategy are all the same.

    No call to action

So many business owners put content out without any actual direction for where the viewer, reader or lister should go next. You’ve just given them some great value… Perhaps even solved a problem for them and then… boom, you let them walk away.

Always make a clear call to action. Don’t imply it, make it crystal clear. i.e “if you want to achieve X result, then click here to sign up for x”.

    Lack of strategy

When you don’t have a content strategy, you are literally walking around aimlessly. More money or more sales, does not equal a strategy. You need to know what you want to achieve long term and start to dial it back. And ask yourself how can your content support you in achieving those goals.

If you want to devise a content strategy for your business, then be sure to check out my membership The Content Academy, which walks you step by step how to do this. (that’s a call to action!)

    No value given

The way people consume content these days is different. People want value, results, tutorials, support… If you’re content isn’t talking directly to them, then they will scroll on by. So ask yourself “is your content giving enough value”?

You can give tips, demonstrations, testimonials… micro wins for them in their day to day life.

Content isn’t just stuff that you have to tick off your to do list. It can support your business growth when done correctly. Join me inside The Content Academy to learn more! (Oh, I did it again!)

  • How to create intentional content

You’re reading this because you’ve already hit burnout from the constant content churn. But content creation fatigue doesn’t have to be in your life. It’s time to step off that hamster wheel. Take it from me, there’s a much better way to creating content for your business. One that you’ll fall in love with.

    What is intentional content?

Intentional content is essentially creating what your audience want… Which is great because it means you can ditch all those ‘fluffy posts’ that are doing nothing for you (AKA international sock day posts… Do you sell socks? No, didn’t think so!). THESE are the posts that you feel pressured to create.

Start tuning in to what your audience wants

So, might be saying ‘great’, but how do I do that?! LISTEN… Tune in big time to what your audiences problems are. Use polls on Stories… Survey them… Check out Answer the Public.

If you’ve already been creating content for a while, then you’ll already have statistics at your finger tips that you can dive into and see what your audience are really responding to.

Whether it’s blogs, YouTube videos, podcasts, social media posts… roll up your sleeves and get to know your stats!

When you know what people want and you are sitting down creating content that essentially has been asked for… You’re no longer second guessing and boy does that bring back the spark!

    Know the point

Ok, so this one is a rather major thing… All your content you create should have a purpose. Think of it like a giant road map… Why are you writing that blog post, recording that podcast… where do you want that person to go next? Your content should aid people through the buying cycle, so always keep that in mind when you’re planning.

If you struggle with this one, check out my Content Planning for Business course, which walks you through step by step how you can plan intentional content.

This will ensure you’re not only creating content that people want, but that also serves you and your businesses purpose.

    Call to actions are important

Once you know your ‘point’ you’ll know where you want them to go next… Call to actions are extremely important. Don’t forget those links.

And don’t be shy about it either, make sure that if you’re showing a desired result, people know exactly what step they need to take to get that (might be to sign up to a free checklist, watch a tutorial video) Make sure you include that!

There you have it! Everything you need to know about becoming an intentional content creator, stepping off the hamster wheel and creating valuable content that will support your audience, you and your business.

  • 5 ways to increase your social media visibility

Growing your visibility online is a big goal for many business owners. You already know what you offer is amazing. You’ve spent so much time perfecting it over the years and it’s your baby…So WHY aren’t people buying it?!!! Most likely because, they don’t know you exist.

You might think the hard part was creating your product, course, membership… But you need to put equal effort into directing people to it and drawing the right kind of attention.

So just how can you increase your visibility on social media? Let me tell you 5 sure fire ways to boost your social media visibility.

Are you on the right social media platforms?

Most people tend to run out and sign up to every platform known to man, but the right approach is to be a bit picky. You might think if you cast the net wide enough, you’ll catch some fish… But that my friend is some 1980’s tactics right there. In this day and age, we can be really targeted. We don’t want all and sundry, we want the right people. Don’t spread yourself too thin and dilute your message. Ensure you’re on the right platform for your business and your audience.

If you’re unsure where this is, you can survey your audience to see where most of them hang out (great place to focus first!) But also think which suits your business best… Is what you do very visual (hello Instagram) or teaching based (hello Clubhouse). Pick 1 or 2 and double down hard on those to get seen.

    Get to grips with hashtags

Hashtags are the best way to expose your content on Instagram. People follow hashtags and if you choose the right hashtags, you could find yourself landing into their news feed. Gaining reach to your ideal audience.

Be sure you pick hashtags that your ideal audience would be using themselves or following. And don’t ‘go large’. More niche small sized hashtags are better, to ensure you land in the ‘top posts’ for those (that’s what takes you into people’s feeds who follow those tags).

If the thought of doing hashtags research is eye rolling, then check out my Instagram Hashtag Library, of over 600+ niche researched hashtags (save yourself the hassle!)

Are you being consistent with your presence?

So many people try something a few times… Don’t see a result and give up. Think about it. Would you keep digging up a seed you planted to see how it’s growing? No!

Decide realistically how much time you have to dedicate to post online. Whether it’s social media, blog, podcast, YouTube, outreach… Make a schedule and stick to it.

From the outside looking in, there’s so much content to consume in one day and harsh reality moment… Not all your followers see all your content and in the order you post it. So by being consistent you’re increasing you chance of getting seen and engaged with, but also converting your audience into buyers.

    Add Value

You have to give, give, give in this day and age. Posting a photo of your breakfast is only really going to work if you’re in the nutrition business. Otherwise look to share value added graphics on social media. Mini trainings on IGTV (perhaps repurpose YouTube videos)

The more value you give, the more people you help, reach and that community will build and in turn increase your visibility.

    Collaborate with like minded businesses.

Think about people who have a similar audience to that you’re trying to attract. See if you can invite them to ‘go live’ on Instagram, appear of their podcast, teach in their membership or FB Group.

This is a great way to cross pollinate your audiences and get exposure to more people who are likely to buy from you. But also in a way that’s really engaging (far better than a standard shoutout!)

There you have it… 5 ways to increase your social media visibility. Give it a go and you won’t be disappointed with the results!
