Getting the most from your Instagram Stories

Using Instagram Stories for your business can really support your content strategy and help move you closer to those bigger business goals. As one of the shortest type on content that can be consumed, you might be wondering just how worth it they really are… But I’m about to tell you how you can make sure you’re getting the most from Instagram Stories.

Make sure you’re getting discovered

Not many businesses realise they can add hashtags and locations to stories to aid discoverability. You can add up to 11 hashtags in stories to have your story pulled through to that hashtags story feed… Same with location tags. In fact if you have a physical location for your business, then geotargeting is really powerful to drive people through the door, so make the most of it to get eyes on your business.

Shop Stickers

Another underutilized Instagram feature is shop stickers. These can be used in your feed, as well as stories, to enable people to shop products with a single tap. Sadly this feature is only for businesses who sell physical products (sorry digital goods businesses). Your products will also be pulled through to the shop tab on the explore page and shown to people likely to be interested.

Instagram Reels & Lives

The new Instagram reels feature is fantastic for short tips videos. Think “3 ways to do XYZ”. It’s also great for showing what you stand for in your niche and that all important personality, which is really important to nurture your audience especially if you’re a service based business.

Lives are brilliant as well to engage with your audience and talk directly to them. Great for Q&A’s or you can even have guests on your Live, so think of a guest expert as an interview for example. Really powerful piece of content to give value to your followers.

There you have it… 3 ways you can get the most from Instagram Stories for your business. For more tips and support on getting the most from our content. Check out The Content Academy, a membership to help you make the most of planning & creating content for your business.
