With the New Year just around the corner, you may be reflecting on what content strategies your should be taking with you into 2021. We’ve seen the rise of TikTok, the introduction of Instagram Reels & LinkedIn has even added Stories to its platform. So, with all these shiny new things to consider… What are my 3 content strategy must haves for 2021…

1. Facebook Ads

Facebook & Instagram ads are super powerful and have made a rise in popularity over the years (especially 2020!). This may well have seen the cost to advertise increase marginally. But you can still play with a small budget, making it super accessible for even the most modest budget.

Much like content though, I do urge you to be intentional about using any ad spend. It shouldn’t just be a constant billboard effect. The beauty with online is the targeting ability of just who gets to see your ads. And because of that, you can be really particular using Facebook ads audiences, to control what you want to say and to who and even when.

So, if you’ve yet to do it… Go and get something called the Facebook pixel on your website now (it’ll take you 10-15mins max) This allows Facebook to build audiences of those who are most likely to buy from you (those who have looked at your products or services). The sooner you add it, the sooner you’ll be in a position to switch on some pretty powerful ads to target those people.

You can learn all about Facebook ads inside The Content Academy.

2. Get organised & repurpose more

Ok, so this is 2 bird with ones stone! Chances are you’ve been in business for some time and as such have put out a fair amount of content. Whether that’ social media, blogs, videos, podcasts or newsletters. Whatever the format, that’s a heck of an amount of quality content that you already took the time to craft and create… Don’t let it get just 1 outing.

Start repurposing at least 60% of your content. There’s only so much new content opportunities out there and it’s ok to feel like you’ve said everything. But here’s the thing… You can say it more than once. There’s a few different ways you can repurpose your content so that you don’t feel like a broken record.

But you may be thinking, “oh but my content is spread all over the Internet… how do I find it?!”. Make the New Year’s commitment to start to catalogue your content on Trello. Tag using category labels, so that you can easily lay your hands on “all content about video marketing” or “all blogs about Instagram”… In literally 2 clicks of a mouse. Making repurposing past content a total breeze!

There’s so many different video executions, from lives to long form YouTube/IGTV. When it comes down to the format, you can be on screen, offscreen just talking… Whatever suits your comfort level.

It’s never been easier to get involved… So make sure you have video on your 2021 planner.
